Options Counseling

How We Help · 02

Options Counseling.

One-on-one guidance for the bigger questions: should mom move? Is there a way to stay home longer? What does long-term care really cost? We help you weigh choices on your own terms.

What it is

Free, neutral counseling. No agenda.

Options Counseling is a free service offered by all California ADRCs. An ICADRC coordinator sits with you (in person or over the phone) and helps you think through the long-term-services-and-support decisions you are facing, neutral, unbiased, and at your pace. We do not push you toward a specific facility or rush you to an answer.

You stay in charge. You decide what to do. We just make sure you have the information.
When it helps most

Common situations.

Hospital discharge

A loved one is being discharged and you are not sure they can manage at home alone. We help you think through home-based care, equipment, and follow-up.

Memory changes

A spouse or parent is showing memory loss. We help you understand the diagnosis, plan for the next stage, and find the right level of support today.

Caregiver burnout

You have been caring for someone you love and you are running on empty. We help you find respite, support groups, and paid-caregiver options.

Planning ahead

Nothing is wrong yet, but you want to know your options. Planning ahead is the best gift you can give yourself and your family.

Choosing a facility

You are weighing in-home support against assisted living, memory care, or skilled nursing. We help you understand cost, eligibility, and what questions to ask.

Benefits decisions

You are not sure whether Medi-Cal, IHSS, VA, or something else is the right path. We help you compare.
